BARBIER, George, illustrator. Laclos, Choderlos De, author.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

Paris: Le Vasseur et Cie, 1934.

George Barbier's masterful illustrations accompany Laclos' famous novel. It tells the story of two aristocratic libertines and ex-lovers, Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont, who compete in the cruel art of seduction, all the while celebrating their conquests and taking pride in their manipulative talents.
